Custom Industrial Rubber Covered Roller | Autoclave Vulcanization · PU/NBR/Silicone · 24-48h Curing

Rubber covered rollers consist of a metal core covered with high-performance elastomer through vulcanization, comprising an outer rubber layer, hard rubber layer, metal core, roll neck, and vent holes.

Key Process Steps:

1. Compound Mixing: Rubber content 25%–85%, hardness ±0–90 degrees. Mixed on open mills or internal mixers; filtered; calendered/extruded into bubble-free sheets.

2. Molding: Metal core requires sandblasting for bonding strength; visual inspection and limited storage period after molding.

3. Vulcanization (Critical Step):

  • Large/medium rollers use autoclave vulcanization, steam-heated

  • Slow temperature/pressure increase to prevent delamination from differential thermal expansion

  • Large rollers require 24–48 hours in autoclave, 30–50 times normal curing time

4. Surface Finishing: Grinding → polishing → thorough dust removal. Surfaces must be free of impurities, pinholes, bubbles, scars, cracks.

Custom Compounds:

  • NBR Rollers: Oil and wear-resistant, printing/dyeing/petrochemical

  • PU Rollers: Tensile strength 3x and wear resistance 5x natural rubber

  • Silicone Rollers: -100℃ to 350℃ resistance, plastic film coating/food packaging

  • NR Rollers: High elasticity, conveying equipment
