Ring gears are core components in automotive transmission mechanisms and heavy-duty drive equipment, with machining quality directly affecting operational safety and service life. Taking automotive synchronizer ring gears as an example, the typical process flow is: forging → rough turning → quenching and tempering → finish turning → gear shaping → fine broaching → carburizing → press quenching → shot blasting → finished product. Quenching and tempering (890℃-900℃ quenching, 550℃ tempering) eliminates forging segregation and homogenizes microstructure; carburizing controls case depth at 0.6-1.0mm to ensure tooth surface hardness and wear resistance; press quenching (heated at 860±5℃ then quenched on a press) effectively controls heat treatment deformation; fine broaching ensures tooth profile accuracy to Grade 8 standards. For large heavy-duty ring gears (e.g., ball mill girth gears), machining must comply with GB10095-88 accuracy standards, with castings passing Level 3 flaw detection.
